Pastor Alec Rowlands will present the eighth annual Azusa Lecture, “Standing at the Crossroads: God’s Guiding Presence in Revival.” The lecture will be Thursday, October 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the North Cleveland Church of God’s Bryant Fellowship Hall. Following Rowlands’ presentation, Dr. R. Hollis Gause will receive the Spirit of Azusa Award for his life-long contribution to the Pentecostal movement as a Bible teacher, scholar, and author. The lecture and a reception for Gause are free and open to the public.
A century ago Missionary Carl M. Padgett established the Church of God on Green Turtle Cay, a small island in the Bahamas. Now the oldest continuing Church of God outside the United States, the local church was set in order on July 24, 1913. Church Historian David Roebuck and the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center participated in the congregation’s centennial celebration, which began on Pentecost Sunday.
The Dixon Pentecostal Research Center celebrated the retirement of long-time employee Janie Hand this past December during a Christmas event with the staff of the Research Center and Squires Library. Mrs. Hand has worked at the Pentecostal Research Center since November 1995, which gave her the longest tenure of any employee in the history of the Center.
The Church of God has partnered with other Pentecostal denominations and libraries to make many of our heritage resources available to students and scholars around the world.
The Dixon Pentecostal Research Center collects, preserves and makes available for research Church of God, Pentecostal and Charismatic documents, records and other media. As the official archives of the Church of God we advance the knowledge and use of the movement’s history and heritage through research, teaching, publications, and exhibitions.
